table restoration
i have been in posetion of a large table that belongs to a freind that has gone overseas i have had it for 8 years now and have decided to return it to the owners daughter as i belive it should belong to her.
anyway i am restoring it but not its former glory becaouse it was made verry poorly and finished with a verry ugly finish. so i will be sanding the whole thing back and refinishing.
here are the pics of it now.

Hi Weisyboy,
That is one big old table there, very solid. Hope this is going to be a Restoration WIP thread. Will be interested to follow.
What timber is it made of? Looks like it could be all solid Oregon Pine perhaps. This should come up superbly.
Cheers

here is the pic of it half sanded. i aint mutch of a photographer and iv only got a crapy $30 digital camera.
the table is solid origan suposidly recycled but i have my douts.
the rail along the bottom is spottygum for some reason? and packed with slash pine(pic 4)
it was finished with wax so i used up a ot of sandpaper and steel wool.
it was badly made one end is twisted down 2" (pic5) and the other is down 1" in the oposite direction aparently it was always like this and i woud agreee as none of the joins have opend up. yuo can see after sanding where the joints were cut rong and packed with wedges (pic3) and the screws were pluged with non matching timber.

Hi Weisyboy,
Thanks for the photos, not bad for a $30 camera. Looks like you have a bit of work ahead.
You will still be improving it out of sight. Heaps better with just the sanding. Keep at it, worth the effort I reckon.
Cheers
