    Another common approach is to rout a slot along the vertical face of the frame under the table, then make some timber pegs to hold the top in place allowing it to slide as required. I can’t for the life of me remember what this is called but here’s a picture



    You can also buy metal bits to use in place of making your own wooden pegs...but that would require knowing what they are called... haha
