    Default Tablesaw - Outfeed Table?

I'm told using a table saw for large cuts is significantly less accurate than a circular saw. (EDIT: with a guide)

However, if I get an outfeed table with a formica top, will I be able to get cuts nearly as accurate as a circular saw, at least on 4' x 4' pieces?

Also, does anyone know how much formica goes for in the USA?

    Thanks.

Whoever told you that doesn't own or know how to use a table saw.
Can't help with the price of stuff in the USA but I think that may be a "how long is a piece of string" question. Check with your local supplier for pricing

I gotta agree with NCArcher, cutting big sheets on the tablesaw on your own is a little tricky but not that hard & a hell of a lot more acurate than a circular saw & 4' x 4' would be easy as. In the case of the 4' x 4' i would initially cut them oversize by 1/2" to make the sheets more manageable either on the TS or circular saw, jigsaw etc, then cut to final size at the TS. An out-feed table would sure make the job easier but Formica is unnecessary unless you particluarly wanted Formica for some reason. Plain old MDF is just fine. An out-feed table would make the job much easier but its not essential, i've cut up big sheets without too much trouble just using sawhorses with timber clamped to it equal to the height of my TS.

Home Depot usually carries high pressure laminate (a.k.a. Formica). A few years ago it was less than $40 a sheet. Some (Not all) Lowe's carry HPL. In your area you might have a Menards.

If there is not a big box near by, you could try local cabinet shops. They may be happy to sell you a sheet that they don't need.

Besides Formica there is Nevamar (Nevamar HPL).

I buy mine from Home Depot because they stock white sheets.
