How many teeth?
hi there - and thank you for all your help thus far.
Now I've finally settled on the Makita 1040...and I've reaslised that there's a tooth question.
I've seen in many other posts people talking about buying blades with more teeth.
And so I looked again at the 1040 and can see that unlike all the other makita saws, it has a 40 tooth blade rather than the 70 or 80? that are on the others.
Is a 40 tooth blade suitable for doing archetraves and skirtings...or do I need to factor in another $70 for a new blade if I want to do this kind of work?
And should I get an 80...or more?
Thanks again
Peter

Hi Peter
I've got a 1040 and the blade that comes with it seems pretty good. I've used it for decks, skirting boards as well as furniture and it always gives a good cut with no tearout in both hardwood and pine. Probably needs sharpening or replacing now but I've had it 2 years and given it a fair hammering.

Yes the 40T will do the job but a higher tooth count the better for fine work... and the longer it takes to cut.
