Thank you, Gentlemen, for your support. Apart from my neighbour Zed (I know where you live, sport!)

First go at hand cutting, I learned lots. Epoxy was my saviour.

I face the future with confidence, and go on to better things.

Incidentally, the tool cabinet looks rather smart, pity I could'nt have the juxtaposed dovetails at the base. Made fitting up rather simple, tho.

mate good effort for making this public. I think most of us have done similar at some point. my first effort looked ok, was the right way up but wouldn't fit together as the wrong side of the timber was marked for the sockets.

Learn from the experience... I disagree with the suggestion that you should give up and buy a jig (unless you need to make lots and lots of dovetails).

Learn to cut them by hand and its a great feeling, just like the first time you got on a bike and didnt fall off when you were a kid.

PS from the pics it looks like you are using softwood. I can say from the very few that I have done, I found it much easier to do them using hardwood.

I wasn't suggesting he give up doing hand cut DT's. I had my tongue in cheek. I agree, making a handcut is very satisfying.
    Cheers
