A new thicknesser
Not mine though, it belongs to the LBT where I volunteer a couple of days a week.
To use it, you have to be certified by one of the members so having a stack of baltic pine MGP10 that I bought recently, I thought it was a good chance to get a tick nest ot my name and get the timber cleaned up.
The thicknesser came from a local sawmiller and has sat there for a while awaiting a suitable 3 phase connection. The dust collector is 3 phase as well and makes nearly as much noise as the thicknesser.
It will take a 500mm board (or log!) and despite worn blades, does a pretty good job. You can't run it for too long though in case the neighbours complain.
Most of the sawdust visible was from some sassafras that run though after my job. An added advantage is that I get to take the shavings home for the fire.
Now I have no excuse to not build the lathe bench.Geoff

Thats oar-some size Geoff
A nice set of Helix heads in it would quiet it down a might.
Lathe bench design oh yeh I have your old one.
I reckon similar but with wheels except I'd mortise the uprights and rails this time, more space. Router the side panels into the uprights. Recess the floor.
Or just make another like the one Nz_carver bought off you shorter though still on wheels.

I must take a picture of the bandsaws, they're pretty impressive too.
For the bench, I'll probably end up with the same, or very close, design of that one you have Ray.
The timber I thicknessed(?) was 90x35 baltic pine, MGP10 which is a bit thinner than I previously used. Perhaps use double thickness?
Luckily I'm relegated to running an Apple Mac (linux laptop died) so I can now run Sketchup.Geoff
