Default Thin Kerf table saw blades ?

Just another quick question guys. Just wondering what is the 'favorite' brand & type of 10" thin kerf table saw blade everyone is using ?. I have just changed from using a FLAI type U ultra finish blade with a rather wide kerf, to an Irwin Marathon 60 tooth thin kerf blade. I found that even though the FLAI blade gave an amazing shiny smooth cut, it
tended to REALLY 'bog down' when ripping certain timber, in particular, Pine. The Irwin Marathon seems to cut much easier, but the finish on the cut surface is not quite as good. Anyway, any reccomendations much appreciated.
    I never forget anything I remember !!

The best thin kerf combo blade I have is Infinity - some of their range is here:

Combination Saw Blades For Woodworking | Saw Blades & Packages

They no longer have a local rep, so will ship direct to Australia. You can pad the order out with some of their excellent router bits to make the postage worthwhile.....

If I was looking at a new saw blade i'd look at the Infinity, forrest and guhdo.

    Guhdo

Forrest Saw Blades - Quality Since 1946

    Good luck!

Andy - those Guhdo blades look interesting. They do have a thin kerf combo blade; so I might have to check out the pricing of this one

Good thing is they come in 5/8" arbor (like the Infinity) to suit a JET tablesaw. That's the only problem with Flai; they rely on press fit inserts to fit arbors smaller than 30mm.

Infinity are relatively cheap for the quality they provide, Forrest are generally a bit more pricey, and I'd be interested to see where Guhdo sit in relation to these.

    Cheers

I picked up a CMT thin kerf combo blade from Carbatec a while back and for my Jet Contractors saw it rocks!!! I have been cross cutting the hardest meanest hard wood whilst building my bench and it has handled it no problems.

I have not used it to rip this hardwood, I use the bandsaw planer machines for that but for an underpowered contractors saw it really is great.

There was a write up on Finewoodworking where they tested a heap of thin kerfs....google it.

Just be careful of thin kerf blades you will find that if your riving knife is thicker than the new blade it will jam when cutting thick profiles and mdf sheets,if you only cut off a small bit you will be OK but cutting a 600 wide sheet of mdf you may jam.

Thanks nrb. I make my own insert plates with splitters, so I have now made a zero clearance insert plate with a thin splitter. Cheers.

I can't give you a COMPARISON of thin kerf blades because I've only ever used CMT and, as Milo says, it is very good. Very smooth and shiney as-cut finish and, as with all thin kerf blades it uses much less power from the saw, you lose much less timber when making multiple cuts ...... and raises about half the dust!
