Thinning Shellac
I have a question about thinning down shellac for use as a sanding sealer. When mixing up the shellac flakes "A Polishers Handbook" says to use 100% Methylated Spirits and not the normal metho as it contain about 4% water which is not good. I have made up my 1 litre of shellac using 100% metho, now I want to thin down some of it to use as a sanding sealer (I hope that is the correct term). Am I correct in saying that this thinning down must also be done with 100% metho or is it OK to use the 96% for this job. In the end there is not much difference in cost, it was just not obvious to me in the book.
By the way, I think the book is fantastic and I am also in no way connected to U-Beaut Polishers, I just like the advice and love the products.

If you started with the good stuff why would you change.
Your sanding sealer should be as good as it can be also.

Most powertools have sharp teeth.
People are made of meat.
Abrasives can be just as dangerous as a blade.....and 10 times more painfull.
