    Default What timber should I use?

    Wife and I are expecting our 1st and I'm looking to make a nice little cot for the little tacka. I realise there are about a bezillion different answers for this question, but what sort of timber do you think I should use? I think the design probably lends itself to some sort of ply as it will be painted and covered as per the bosses orders, but I have no idea what sort. Any suggestions will be appreciated!!!!

    Wolfie ,
    do you have a design in mind ? i
    If so you have better post it on here , plans and specifications , if you want assistance .
    Without a picture of what you have in mind the folks on here will have to make it up.

    In that case , mine would be ,
    Sling a big oak log on the lathe , turn it to round , put it across the saw to cut out the bits that don't look like a baby's cot , and hollow out the middle.
    Bingo ,
    One baby's rocking bassinet

    So , unless you want a whole pile of ideas that don't match your vision ,
    let us see yours.

    cheers ,
    Jock

    That takes me back to when teams would turn up with a player short and some poor devil would have to play for them. Oddly enough they usually scored.

    Dumb me was thinking that the forum's wolfie was a lady in far north Queensland a little beyond childbearing age. Looked it up in the Member Listing and thats Wolfie. Still close enough to be confusing, but at least I know now.

    Exclamation

    When you look up all the design rules for cots you can then do up a plan.

    Jock's idea is a real goer, but I reckon a 44 with a cut out section and some legs welded either end would do.
