    Cutting dovetails in Aus. cedar is fine, just be sure to use sharp chisels. Also, keep your bench clear of wood chips and make sure there are no old glue spots on it. They can make dings in the surface that you won't notice till you start to put the finish on.
    The good news is that if the wood fibres are not broken, the dings can be steamed out.

    No worries I will keep that in mind. I think I'm going to use cedar. I have spoken to the boss and we are going to decide what timber we like because over the years I plan to make all of the furniture in our house to match.
