Brilliant
I'm humbled by what everybody has done. Absolutely brilliant effort
I'd better vote for myself as I'm sure I'll get none from anybody else, given the competition
Big thanks to F&E and DJ for the super work they put in

Well, now you all know why I have done it. Being nowhere as skilled as the entrants (except 12- I made that!) I get a lot of vicarious pleasure seeing the marvellous things I could have done if only... Bit of a peeping tom, eh?
So, thanks for the thanks, it's my pleasure, really... and I am sure that DJ is enjoying it also, a nice change from being on watch for nasty posts, isn't it? Thanks again DJ.
Pity that nobody from SA has taken up the challenge, was hoping to raise a bit the profile of the croweaters, but it's not happening...

Great work guys.
I got a crap load of small Red Cedar Boards that I could donate to the cause. They are not large boards but I am sure that a few of you guys could make something wonderful from them.
Any chance of getting more photos of entry 5 with another item like a ruler to show the scale of the item.

Wow
OMG! WOW. They are all amazing. I can't decide how to vote. Since I'm new I might not count, but I'll second the motion that next everyone gets 3 votes.
I'll apologise up front but I have to comment on them all.
1. I love the way you preserved the grain in the center and the bark on the edges.
2. That looks fantastic, the finish quality is really great. It looks much bigger than it must be.
3. OMG, thats amazing. The amount of work that must have gone into that. Is it all hand carved?
4. Wow! I love the attention to detail and the way the grain turned out. The pen and letter opener would have been great just by themselves, but the box is fantastic.
5. Seriously....are you sure you didn't just take that from your house? How did you make that so small? Wow.
6. Wow, handcarving is something I don't think I'd have the patience for. To replicate something like that with all the various detail is just great.
7. Again the wonders of hand carving. Amazing.
8. I really like the inlay on the top, and the hinges look great. Again WOW.
9. Wow, the finish is again fantastic. Is the design done in pyrography?
10. Thats really cool. I always wanted to make tools with my tools. But they must be dwarf sized?
11. I think that could be a bird feeder but I'm not sure. Whatever it is, its fantastic! A lovely finish and it must have taken ages to hollow out so evenly.
12. LOL I can't stop laughing. I really wanted to vote for you but I just couldn't.....LOL I like it a lot!
13. Very nice. It has a simplicity about it that I like. Did you stain the olivewood for the top or add a piece in?
14. Thats really nice. I've always wanted to make a knife but never seem to have time. The finish is great.
15. Again I really like how you worked the grain into the top, and the customised pens are great.
16. The finish is fantastic. Is that an eggcup?...two eggcups?
17. I really like that clock. Very clean lines.
18. HOLY COW! How long did that take to do? There's 27 in there with the 3 birds! (I counted ) Fantastic.
19. Wow. The finish is bloody great!
20. Thats really artistic. Hand carved again? Wow.
Sorry for the long post.....I'm really glad I wasn't in this competition, I would have been waaayyy out of my depth against you all! All entries were really great, sorry I had to vote for only one.Looking for an inexpensive accurate and detailed job estimation solution? www.dsm-systems.com

Not long got home from rehearsals, WOW....
I can see that I didn't put enough time into my piece.
However.... mine has been used twice now already & none of the others were there to show it up.
I have already mentioned that I had some stuff to put up but I am busy with our theatre group (lighting tech) from now til the 15th of June so if somebody wants to slot in before then, go for it....
I reckon we should use up the whole 500grams of the post pack next time.
I also reckon we should jump on that red cedar 'cos it is nice to work & it is a pity to let it go begging.
Maybe, if there is heaps of it, we could spring for a $9 bag & get more than 500grams.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

I can also see now that we should have included something like a matchbox or 2 bob in the pic to give an idea of the size.
Cliff.

Its was hard to fore-see that so many wonderfull articles could be produced from such a small amount of timber, Thank you all for putting your talents to the fore and showing many of us what we can do with all those small blocks of wood that clutter our work shops ??
Also a big thank you to Frank for the Olive and the opportunity to participate and not to leave out DJ for his hard work as well.
As for the voting I am like a lot of others I think it will take a few more looks and days to make that decision.
RippaThee who has not made a mistake, has not made anything ??
