What Timber To Use For Gazebo Roof?
Im buidling a gazebo in the back yard and so far i have all posts and supports up ... The frame is going up this weekend, but i have kinda hit a dead end ...
The whole lot is made out of Kwila and is oiled and looks a million bucks. BUT i am stuck on what to use for the roof?
The gazebo is approx 5m square (but octagonal) ... Any suggestions on what to use on the roof (dont say Colourbond) ...
Pine weatherboards? It would be a nice contrast to the darker roof, but how do i weatherproof it? Where do i get it from (in brisbane) and how do i calc u how much i need?
Sorry for all the questions, but im quite confused ... :S

Hmm
Very nice ... Only problem is they're only 450mm ... All my rafters run from the edge to the mid point (16 all up) ... There arent any running horizontal (hope that makes sense) ...
Anyone sell something similar, but in lengths upto 2.4m?

Can still use cedar, just not shingles. The place mentioned by Steve, if it is the one I have been to, is off Granard Rd.. Sort of p/llel to the Ipswich Mtwy.

You can still use Shingles... you just have to add some battens to nail them to.
Easy!
and battens run at about $2/m for hardwood.Steven Thomas

Battens are an option, but the whole lot is made of Kwila so far, so i'd prefer to keep it that way (Kwila battens might work out a little expensive) ...
Im really stuck here :S
