    Default Timber identification

    Hi all,

I have recently acquired some pieces of timber that i would love to use for pen turning, however I am reluctant to do so with out at least a tentative name for each piece and I really have no idea . If anyone has any ideas the help would be much appreciated

    Steve

    Question

    Don't think it's Red Ironbark.

If you turn pens I suggest cross cut or diagonal cut. That will give you a more interesting variation in the colouring and patterning.

I would guess blackbutt, spotted gum and bluegum, from top clockwise.

Haha not to worry, thanks for all the suggestions , I will do some of my own research as well to see if I can come up with any answers.
