Orright, at this time we have 14 starters and half a dozen nibbles, no prize sponsors and no set agreement yet on one Administrator doing the admin side (I guess Groggy is out, being a participant). It's still early days, but we do not seem to have an enormous momentum yet.
Any bright suggestions for sprucing this up? RBTC, are you there? Any pearls of wisdom gathered from your experience?

i would offer my services agin as a prise sponcer but it cost me $45 postage last time.
if there were some way of getting around this it would be great.
it will also be hard for me to offer a certain thing as we all have diferent persuits.

Fair enough, Carl, posting wet timber is very expensive and you have been very generous already. (Thanks again .) On the other hand, postage and handling for a GPW chuck set (which works very well, BTW) and a pink grinding weel is only $24. Maybe GPW could get a better return for the investment...

Maybe we could ask one of the WW'ing suppliers for sponsorship?

Ok then... I may as well give this a go. It will probably be a turned item so 40x40x(whatever fits the final restrictions) will be good, but if inspiration strikes then it may become... art.
CorbsIt's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

just thaught id clarify the prise wont nessaseraly be 10kg of timber.
cos if you chose the red cedar it is bone bry and as light as a fether youd get half the tree.
but well work that out when the time comes

BozinOz, so far I have you as a nibble around the bait, you did not actually say "I'm in"... I have not PMd my address to anybody yet, was waiting a couple of days to do a bulk mailing. I am bolding the names of the entrants as we go, so if I missed you yell out.
Incidentally, if I have to send one email at a time at five minutes intervals it is going to be a real drag. Any way out of this? Also, is any moderator raising their hand to help with the presentation/polling task?
ETA: Groggy just suggested DJ's timber as an excellent choice - thanks Greg! He's also a supplier, maybe we could twist his arm to sponsor a prize also!
