    G'day everyone,

    bla.... bla.... bla....

I'm not going to be totally unhelpful, and therefore I will share with you and others, some of the things I've learn from the original challenge, things that I would not repeat with this "group" of people.
There would be no "material" prizes, much less from participants. The challenge "rewards" are seen differently by most people, there are other ways to reward prizes to the winner, but definitely, not this way.
i am sure many if not all the partisipants would still be involved if there was no prises.
however i see nothing rong with awarding prises to those who deserv them.
especialy if they are donated. i think more people shoud step up and donate things for prises even if it just a $20 bunnings voutcher.

The second thing that I would change, is the way participants have to source the working material. That is just an expense that can be voided and Australia Post wouldn't care!
having someone "donate" the material to be used is the only real way of making it fair.

otherwise those of us a long distance away from the nearest timber suplier would be at a great disadvantage to those who live next door to a specialty wodworking timber supplier.

and again if the person offering the timber is happy to do so then that is great.

Now, make it clear that I'm not telling you what to do, am only telling you what I would not do again.
im sure that F&E would not care if you were telling him what to do he would just ignore you. or offer you with a polite reply. witchyou should take a leson from.

    Default Is that right...?

Hummm, I could hardly ignore your uncalled and unnecessary comments weisyboy. I should remind you that "fish die with their mouse open".
I should also remind you that, F&E did indeed call for my name a few days back, which I wasn't aware of until yesterday. Possible F&E didn't meant to, but he did and I have no problem with it, obviously, you do.

Is interesting how some people make their judgement of others, and maybe you would be kind enough to tell me, what I have ever done to you? As curious as some people would be with your response, I would ask you to keep this thread clean of the "bla... bla... bla..." as you call it, and respond to my question in a private manner, using the PM system. Thank you.

I apologise Frank&Earnest, for the "detour", hope there will be no need to follow such pass, again!.

    Cheers

sorry rubtc the bla bla bla was not meant as an insult i use it a lot.

i was simpl stating my opinion on the matter not personaly havin a go at you. reading over it agin i see how it could be taken the rong way.

however there was one statement in there not realy having a go at u just saying what i felt
"im sure that F&E would not care if you were telling him what to do he would just ignore you. or offer you with a polite reply. witchyou should take a leson from'
this was in relation to the way you spoke to people giving there kind advice in the previous timber offer & challenge.

i dont belive in keeping anything to myself if i have a bad opinion of someone i will tell them.

OK,, I'm prepared to volunteer a small "prize" to a participant
I've just finished a short run of small bronze platypus ( large egg size)
and have one left, ( they're ok, will post a pic )
definitely not suggesting first prize, (maybe most adventurous use of supplied wood)
do I get to choose who gets it?
    cheers underfoot

    Default Have I missed something

What's going on with ROBUTACIAN? Everything seemed to swimming along just fine. Have I missed something? I reckon F&E has started a good thing and can't see anyhing wrong with what he is doing, in fact he should be the one to get an award for putting in the time to organise this. I really appreciate those people who are willing to offer prizes that's really generous and while I'm not in it for any prizes or trophies, if we all agree that's the way it should go, I'll donate something, what do reckon F&E. Oh and about me wanting the "worst" bit of wood you have F&E, you put it correctly, as usual, any irregular, twisted and defected bit would suit me better as I feel more restricted with straight and square bits.

This is supposed to be a bit of fun, let's just give F&E a chance to organise it without dragging other gumph in unnecessarily.

Frank, since I am a turner with trainer wheels I am happy to try just about any bit of wood you've got. I do not particularly want to be responsible for the demise of a good bit of timber (again, except in public this time) so any old offcut will suit me.

If it is not too late, could I change my preferred size also to 55x55x80mm? Grain in direction of longest measurement, please.

    If not, no harm done.

I've no real concern over what size I'm sent either. Something I could make an egg-cup from (not that that's what I'd make... but that size, roundabout) would be nice but is hardly critical.
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

Am I to late to play too? Can I have a bit that I could carve a spoon or something out of? I know I said I'd just watch, but a girl can change her mind can't she?
