What timber(s) for replacement case for Squeezebox player
Hi all,
I have a Squeezebox 2 digital music player, and the case (black plastic coated with a rubberized paint) is deteriorating and becoming sticky!
I would like to craft a showpiece wooden case for it. Inside the VFD display is detached from the main logic board, which gives some flexibility in placement of screen vs logic board.
What sort of fine grain timber would suit? (I would like the finished product to be a deep reddish colour with rich grain, highly polished).
Would I be able to craft from a single piece of timber and use a router and sanding ... is that even possible or a more traditional box from six pieces.
Appreciate any thoughts or comments
Thanks all
Steve

Sounds you are describing NSW Rosewood.

If you have a band saw there would be an opportunity for a unique band saw box.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Appreciate it.
Is there anywhere in Sydney that I can purchase small amounts of Rosewood or Cedar over the holidays, or am I out of luck?
Cheers

My personal choice would be the rosewood over cedar but both would look great.
