Cool New Forum suggestion "Timber Skills Exchange" or "Volunteer your skills"

    This post has been moved.

    Let's go!

    Hi all
New forum suggestion "Timber Skill Exchange" or "volunteer your skills"

    Like the "Timber swap" forum.

    Something along the following lines.

Eg.- Accommodation in exchange for help with timber project

    • Over the next twelve months I am building a log cabin (61sqm) on our farm. I am also planning to make bush furniture for the accommodation.

Anyone wanting a working holiday, challenge etc..

    • Or, milling, furniture, building project, etc..

Why? This is the place for people interested in timber/wood as a material whatever their skill level. It's also nice to be challenged physically and not just mentally.

I know this is a forum and accept any criticism.

    Hi Olly,
I think your suggestion has merit, the idea of sharing experience and skills amongst ourselves is great. For those wishing to expand their skill base and have the ability to share your experience of work to add to a project and see it come to fruition. Even greater get to know fellow woodies possibly some grey(or not so) nomad traveling woodies could get involved on their journey's.
    Regards Rod.

    Default It could work

    It could work.

A couple I know spent 2 years travelling round Australia helping others build solar passive homes - so that they could see first hand what they did (and didn't) want to incorporate into their own home when they built it.

Their resulting home when they built it was nothing short of magnificent as a result of what they learned!

Hi Rod, I hope more people see the merit and add to the reasons. Maybe one day there will be a network of people around Australia or even internationally where fellow woodies are welcome to stay. Oh, I hope I am too I'm currently a farmer building two log cottages for farm-stay.

Grey, not so grey or even bald nomads. like it

I'm a new member and have gained so much already.

    Regards, Olly

    Hi Timless Timber

    Great story.

Build on hold ...."I'm a good passive labourer, I can..er... is anyone out there building a passive log home I need experience?" Call out to the misses" Pack your bags we're off on holiday"

    Regards,

    Olly
