Timber stair treads
Hello out there, I am a newbie in the world of building but my husband and I have successfully reached the plastering stage of our owner-builder extension and need to get some advice on the stairs next. We will need to do an open tread design and my husband is a licensed welder so we're pretty set with the backbone thing and have had an industrial designer friend design them within the Australian standards, but we have no idea where to go to get the best timber for the stair treads. We are in Melbourne, does anyone know?? Do we need to get them from a stair builder or will any timber yard have the right stuff? Also a Jarrah breakfast bar, 2m x 500 and 35 thick... Would appreciate anyone well-kept secrets on suppliers of such timber!
