timber vs aluminium windows
Hi,
Just wondering if you could provide some input into the following;
We currently have an old federation home that has aluminium windows. In the next few months we are doing minor renovations that require 3 x new windows to be installed. I have been reading a heap of info on the web saying that aluminium windows greatly decrease the value of old houses.
Therefore, I am pretty keen to install new ‘timber’ windows into the renovated parts of the house, and gradually replace the existing aluminium ones with timber over the coming years.
Could I get your knowledge on aluminium versus timber? One big negative of timber these days is the moisture in the air from gas heaters (which we have).
I am assuming that correctly painting or sealing windows initially will help a lot with this problem. Do you have any comments on this issue also?
Many thanks

Aluminium maintenance free virtually. Timber looks great but frequent maintenance needed.
Reality is no background music.
