    Default Tool Cabinet

The handplanes, chisels and router bits used to live in suitcase style boxes in bench but whichever box I needed it was always on the bottom.

So a wall cabinet was planned to hold just these items.

The router bits are finally under control

The chisels will have a hidden magnet type holding system Soon <TM>

The handplanes are now easy to grab, with space for the #7 or #8 thats on wishlist along with some spokeshaves etc.
Leigh Jigs will be going on top.

Crapiata timber finished with BLO, should age nicely. Through dovetails on carcass and drawers, sliding dovetails on shelves, mortice and tenon for face and doors.
Attached to wall with french cleats.

Quite a few little errors but learnt a hell of a lot.

Very nice. Although what's with the floral emblem on the doors?

Nice. I like the drawer faces complement the raised panel doors.

    Good one Cruzi.
I'm not showing your cabinet to my tools, They'll get jealous.
Looks good in pine as well.
I often see these tool cabinets in magazines made from exotic timbers and I think - jeez that's better than some of my furniture.
My shed benches and cupboards are made of left overs usually.
Wouldn't be game to show them off in this company.

    Thanks for kind comments guys.

SG: I have seen those type of cabinets and agree with you. This was designed to be simple but decided to practice a few joinery techniques as I went. There are a few steps deliberately not taken in order not to overblow it. Chamfering corners and doors for one example.

The floral emblem is the first time I've used chip carving on a piece, nearly went mad and did hound's teeth top and bottom.

Great job. You will notice the difference now that the planes are all out and within reach.

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."
