At the corners they are dovetails, interlocking tails and pins, that form a mechanical joint that can not be pulled apart in one direction. The massive amount of surface area supplied for gluing also permits a very strong joint in the other direction.

Additionally the box will get skirts top and bottom that will also be dovetailed but in the other direction, this making a bomb proof box! (Fingers crossed)

Ok. I didn't realise they were tongue and groove boards. Thanks

re the weight... it's pretty light. the blackwood i had was pretty light in colour and had wide-ish growth rings.

Now that the paint is dried it looks a bit better. I'll update the photo later, it's not as motely now.
As for looking ordinary - well thats kind of the point. I remeber my uncle buying a masive new outboard for his punt, only to have it stolen the same night.
the next week after he bought another brand new motor (the same), he scratched the outside up and spray painted it weird colours. It's still there. Not that this one will be travelling with me to job sites or anything.

I agree with Christos a good story.

Bit like the fellow who married an ordinary looking woman so no-one would want to steal her from him. Trouble was he became tired of her treat her rough and she finally left him for someone who cared.

    Steve

Now you've had ur Tool chest for a while now, are you happy with re dimensions of the inside draws? Would you make any changes?

I'm a out to start the inside of my toolchest. Judging by the pictures, it looks like the draws are about 40% of the depth of ur chest? I'd appreciate ur feedback.
