    Default Tool Library/Rent-A-Tool

    I've exhausted key-words searching for a tools rental business in Australia, and I recognize it's debatable I've placed this query in the correct forum.

    However, after searching the web for priciing I reckon US$400 is waaaaay too much to pay for a 4" forstner bit that would likely be used for one project only.

    So. the question is: can anyone direct me to an Aussie web site handling rental tools? I mentioned 'Tool Library' because they do exist - at least overseas.

    Wow, I've never seen one larger then 50mm. I assume you want to drill a hole with a flat bottom. Have you thought about using a router using either a pattern bit or using a template guide? Either of these will give you the flat bottom you need at a set depth.

    Or one of those scribe cutters - they have that sort of cutting size, and are $10 or so. Won't make a flat-bottomed hole, but if it's for putting a 4" pipe through a floor or something, it might just be the trick,

    Thanks George and Stuart - I want to repeat a hole in six pieces of orange (the fruit) wood, but not drill through it. The trunk is not even (of course) so a template for that is beyond my knowledge and/or ability, and a scribe cutter will require me to chisel out the belly of the pieces - seems too difficult.
    Again, thanks for the contribution,

    dunno if it'll work but what about using the range of hole saws up to 4" then using a chisel to break out the circles of wood. You'd be left with a flat bottomed hole.

    Again, my thanks.
    For the obvious place to seek and find - Carbatech;
    I couldn't find them on Jim Carrolls web site; and
    Using a chisel: too much chance of breaking through the base.

    Dunno if this would work, but here goes. How about using a holesaw to the outside diameter then stepping down in size with smaller hole saws thus breaking up the mass of the hole into smaller rings and then it should chisel out easier. Or use the the biggest forstener bit you can get combined with hole saws in a similar fashion. There shouldn't be to much chiseling either way.

    We have a 4" saw tooth style bit.
    It'll do what you require. $69.50 we have 15% off drill bits in store at the moment, but will extend the discount to you over the internet if you would like.

    hope we can help

    4 inch bit

    cheers
