Torsion box overbench!
This is really part of - http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com...ad.php?t=44927 but I thought I'd post under torsion box for better reference.
All this is rule of thumb (absolutely no rime or reason) - I wanted a 700 mm deep (but high) table over my T/S so a torsion box seemed a good idea to span 2m. Construction is 6mm sheet top/bottom 18 mm sides and 12 mm internal lattice (60mm high) - all MDF. Supporting frames need anchoring to shed frame for stability.
As this is really just a shelf, I used the back for storage boxes.
I don't know if my rather light weight box construction will stay rigid and not sag but I'll find out over time?Fantastic cheese Grommit!!

You could land a helicopter on that. I made one out of 3 ply sheets and 20x10mm internal framing and used it as a ramp to load an electric scooter into a ute for my elderly dad. Those things aren 't light and it didn't bend.
