Got better years ago and left, only thing I miss is the Sunday Session, but that probably doesn't happen anymore now.

YAY!!!! townsville members.
SO ..... do any of you meet up with each other or are you members of any particular woodworking group here in TSV?
I was a mambwer of TAWA but left due to the birth of my first child and was just about to go back when the second suddenly apeared so have had baby rearing duties that have kept me away from persuing hobbies.
Now kiddies have grown ever so slightly bigger and slightly more self sufficient I am keen to start learning the craft of woodworking.
Apart form TAWA are there any other woodowrking clubs out there which is appropriate for a complete novice?
Looking forward to making further contact.
Cheers,
Spanner

Hey Spanner,
No i'm not a member of any woodworking group in Townsville. Don't really know of any to be honest, except the wood turning club. Been wood working for a bit over a year now, so I still class myself as a novice haha.
Got my first baby on the way too, so hoping to get in some serious woodwork before i'm onto the baby duties! haha.
Where abouts in town are you located mate?
Cheers,
WILL

Parts of Townsville are underwater
Hey Spanner, I'm in the bit of Townsville that floods. I had four inches of brackish water through my shed on the king tides two weeks ago, and I reckon it will be even higher this weekend. Never before in 22 years has the water in Railway Estate come up this high, so there's something very fishy (!) happening with the drainage.
I'm in the Wooden Boat Association, and we get together regularly to share ideas and projects. Currently we are struggling with a 65' pearling lugger that "needs a bit of work", so if you want to come and join the fun, just pm me and I'll give you the details of our next meet.
I don't know of any other woodwork groups in town, but Alan Goodbun over at the Jet Tool shop often runs beginner classes in joinery or woodturning. I've met some interesting woodies there.

Left Townsville years ago, but family still all live there. I also miss sunday sessions and beer gardens. I get up there once a year usually.
