Default Non toxic finish, ASAP please!

Can anyone recommend a non-toxic finish for kids toys and indoor furniture? Is water based polyurethane the go? Or what about shellac? I need to buy the product today.....

(apologies for probable dumb question... I have some 'Intergrain ultra clear', it says its water based acrylic, is this the same as polyurethane??)

As far as I know, all clear interior finishes are non-toxic once they've dried. However, if you want to be sure, check the MSDS (google MSDS and the product name). Shellac is non-toxic once it's dry, it's used on boiled lollies to make them nice and shiny.
