That is exactly how I feel... If there are required safety standards, then we should/must adhere to it. However for me, it is more than this, I could never live with myself if something I made caused a preventable injury or worse. Kids are precious, even if they are not mine!!

Thanks for the information. They sound like a good idea and rockler are good to deal with. I have used gas struts to balance the lid of a box but these are probably easier for most box builders.
