That sirs is bordering on a complete whimsy.

It's nothing more than a fancy "push block for passing shortish pieces of wood through a TS". Some say it's a sacreligious use of such good looking timber but seeing as the more common use of this tree is as fence posts it doesn't worry me at all.

About 12 months ago I acquired some Jam wood (smells like raspberry jam when you cut it) and is said to me I want to be something interesting. Inspired by Sturdee's efforts at making a push block with a sloped handle I started to make a push block out of MDF but the call from the Jam was strong and I could not resist so before long the "fancy jig" is what resulted.

For about 6 months it sat inside the house as a curio (I am permitted to keep some interesting jigs and tools inside the house so that SWMBO can show her friends that I actually do something in the shed), I also have taken in places for minor shows and exhibitions as a talking piece.

Since I made it I think it has beeen used to actually cut only about 3 or 4 pieces of wood. The original thread is here.
