Default Traditional Method of Making Crown Moulding

Im wondering if anyone can offer a suggestion as to how to produce crown moulding for the top of a bookshelf, without using modern power tools ? i.e. mitre/tablesaw.

People were doing it hundreds of years ago without power, and Im really curious what sort of tools they would have used. Have found no information about it online, or any of the books I have.

    Any pointers much appreciated !

BTW. Haven't seen Woodwould around lately, I hope he is OK.

I did a quick search and it's easier to find info on making moulding planes than actually using them to make mouldings.

Yes, a very good question. Where is Woodward?

Thats great, thanks for the info and link to that post. It seems like wooden moulding planes are what Im after. There is a slim chance I actually have one in a box of old tools I got from my dad as well so will have to investigate further.

Looks like Woodwould is still going strong on his private blog. Suibhne you can check out some of his other projects by searching these threads or directly on Pegs and Tails
