treated pine fence posts
wanting to tidy up a fence line. All the horizontal posts are just sitting on top of verticals with a long bolt through. These have worn over the years.
I would like to create a saddle in the top of vertical post. HOW?? Place the horizontal into the saddle then strap over.
each post is the usual 100-125mm permapineI would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

I did some with a chain saw. I cant think of an easier way. Scoop a half round hollow in the top of the post . Sit the horizontal in that and nailed a strap over the top .
Adding more detail to that . You chop down to a half circle pencil line marked on both sides of the post . Come in a number of times across the top of the post from both sides. Then come in at 45 degree angles chopping them out till your left with a sort of stepped mess down close to the line . Then you use the chainsaw blade as a smoother wiping the tops of the mess down flat but keeping the curve of the half circle .
Thinking back I probably just did a depth pencil mark each side and guessed the radius then checked with a trail fit of the horizontal rail.

because this fence area gets fairly heavy abuse from campers I will use both ideas, notch the horizontal rails and use the Pryda things to secure
