    Default Triangular cubbyhouse build log

    Hi all,

New to the forum here. I just thought I'd share my project for my little daughter. This is my first real project with timber, I have built a deck a few years ago but that's it. So this is all new to me and I am learning as I go.

As you can see the cubbyhouse is triangular which is a nightmare with all the angles involved. I did buy a drop saw to help but unfortunately most of my angles are more than the 50 degrees that the drop saw allows. The side and roof cladding will be fibre cement and the front cladding will be TP weatherboards. There will be a terrace and a timber railing. The terrace cover will essentially be an extension of the already existing gable also using fibre cement sheets. The frame still needs lots of work and time is an issue because of work but hopefully it will be ready for painting by the end of November. Please feel free to critisize any of part of the project plan.

    Thanks
    Chris

    Thanks rwbuild!

She surely keeps an eye on the progress and is very fussy with the water level.

    G'day Chris,
At first glance I thought you must have been a builder using up leftovers from a few jobs.
You are certainly making a good structure for the little one to have may years of play, well done.
Will you put a gutter around the roof so you can direct the water away?
Watching with interest, keep up the good work.
    Cheers, crowie

PS - you must have good neighbours!!

crowie... neighbours are great! I wish I had building skills but I am only basing myself on some sound maths and physics. I planned all the timber lengths and angles on paper and "hoped" that it would all screw into shape which luckily it did. I won't be using any gutters. The gable roof will extend a couple of inches so that the decking remains dry, terrace included.

The dog is actually keeping an eye on the neighbour's Jack Russell which is burrowing under the fence.
