Triple Cut sawblades - rip or crosscut?
Hello, can anyone please tell me the main application of triple cut grind ( TCG) sawblades with timber - ripping or crosscutting?
regards,

I may well be wrong but in my experience neither really. For cross cut an ATB is better and for ripping a ripping blade is better. I use them for man made boards. But to choose between the two cross cut.

They're really meant for melamine but produce an excellent cross cut finish. They are a bit slow for ripping even though they also produce a nice finish.

Hi Dengue,
The triple cut blade were designed to cut board product eg:melamine faced board the idea being the middle tooth does the clearance cut and the set teeth either side only have to clean out the corners of the cut resulting in a cleaner cut especially on the back you can get a cut that once edged it is very difficult to pick the back from the front. This also works to some extent on crosscut but as stated previously can be hard work on rip cuts depending on the timber.
Regards Rod.

A friend of mine uses this type of blade for both ripping and cross cutting. Absolutely beautiful finish.
