Trojan Clamps
Hi all,
I'm after a couple of F-clamps for general use (mostly instrument and box making) and the only brand I've found in the local stores that fits my budget is the Trojan clamps. I'd like to know what experience people have had with them - good or bad, and any alternatives that there may be in a similar price range.
Thanks

I bought a couple of "CLUTCHED QUICK ACTION CLAMP's " from mcjings and was impressed with them.
Might be worth checking out, and also helping out a forum sponser in the process.

Hi IWTS,
I grabbed four of these Trojan F clamps when Bunnings were getting rid of them. They were on the clearance table for very cheap.
I truly didn't expect that they would be much good, but they have served me well.
The only criticism that I have of them relates to the bar that the F slides along. It is quite flexible. I have found that when the clamps are tightened up for glue-sets, the bar gets a distinctive bow in it.
The old saying you get what you pay for applies here of course.
I rather like that other saying as well:
Perfection is the enemy of good enough.

I have some F type clamps that I got from Supercheap Auto. I found these quite ok for the clamping that I done. What I look for in a clamp is the thread to be thick and ensure that nothing binds when turning freely. I check to ensure that the clamp is straight and that the when closed they line up as much as possible.
I have gotten some bowing as mention by Scribby Gum when under pressure.

Ended up checking out the ones available at Supercheap - in the end ten dollars each was a bit hard to turn away from. They're surprisingly sturdy for something generic branded and if it does the job, I'm happy with it. Slight bowing as previously mentioned, but not an issue. Thanks for the help everyone
