Default Hiding dust collection pipes in ceiling.

As I only have 2400ht. ceilings (8ft), i would prefer to put the ducting for the dusty in the ceiling space otherwise I'm going to lose 150mm min of clearance. I just know it will be a matter of time before I knock it or damage it somehow.
I would like to know if there are mounting plates for the duct work to go through plasterboard and be securely fixed in place.
Also if anyone has done something similar any info or photos would be a great help.

Rather than fix the duct to the plaster with a plate, I'd secure the ductwork to the trusses/joists and simply use a dektite around the duct where it penetrates the ceiling.

That way it's sealed, looks neat and will handle knocks/vibrations to/in the duct without screwing up the plaster.
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

    Why the ceiling?

Have you thought about running it around just above the skirting boards. I know most places you see have the pipes going up but is this necessary? Mine works great around the base of the walls in the shed - don't have to suck up [high] the dust in the first place.

    Just a thought, regards,
    Bob

Thanks Skew, from the website, dektite looks like it may work but I will need to eyeball them to be sure. Do you know who sells them?

Thanks Bob, I will have 2 probs running it along the skirting. Cause its going in a dbl garage that has a 5m panel-lift door at 1 end and a 1.8m RAD at the other, I would need to get it past these openings. Also my shelving has full metal sides so would need to pull these out from the wall.
    Cheers,
    Paul

Paul, you can buy them vent seals at any hardware store.

Can you run the main 150mm duct up by the cornice, wont use up much space there.

Yeah Harry, I could run the 150mm along the perimeter but I would still need to run a 3.5m/100mm dia. accross to the middle of the garage which will be directly above my assembly area and table saw infeed.
