Type of door lock
I'm going about replacing 3 door on our outback Qld cottageand would like to replace the locks and have 1 key to open everything.
Would anyone know what this type of door lock is called.
I can find the lock on Google image and it states night latch lock and yes it has that but what about the entire lock name.

Yes it is a night Latch, and about as secure as piece of string, replace with something like this these can be ordered keyed alike

The lock in your photo is called a night latch, if your not too worried about them being ultra secure as the one china links to, then just get 3 of them and any locksmith will key them alike (match 2 of them to the same key as the 3rd one. If you want really good security get the dead lock that China referred to but then your security is only as good as your windows and your door jambs.

Regardless of the lock you choose you can order them keyed alike to save the additional locksmithing costs or if you are getting from the big green shed go through their stock and you can usually find some matching keysets.

Thanks and yep I love keyed alike. Every door and padlock at the house and mine will now be keyed alike.

A further refinement of the keyed alike principal is the master - submaster system. You can then have a separate key for every lock in the house plus a master key that opens every lock. If, for example, you want to give a tradie a key for your garage, you know that key will not fit any lock in the rest of the house. But your master key opens every lock.

Yes we had the system at the Government organisation I retired from, a brilliant system so the maintenance officer and the CEO can have a master key and everyone else a separate key to there office or building.
I only have a 1970's cottage, granny flat, shipping containers and a shed in outback Qld and if I go riding most of the time I don't even close the doors.
I've gone with these original ol skool type locks which are plenty good enough and pricy for out here in the bush.
