I must say it sounds suspiciously cheap for HSS, but at $5 per drill it's probably worth a try anyway

How about a locally made product? I have been avidly looking around to keep as much local as I can - and whilst probably most here know that Carbitool make great router bits, I suspect some may not know they do other stuff as well, including Forstner bits.
Here's a set that I reckon makes a pretty good case for purchase: 5 Piece Kit (TCT Metric) - Carbitool

But are they made in Australia?
I know the router bits are, but some of their other items I have purchased, eg. plug cutters, aren’t.
