    Default Using dowels

I'm wondering if I can get some help? I want to dowel a rail to an edge, with both sides lining up smoothly. How do I ensure the holes line up? The usual dowelling tool only lines up an edge to a flat, but I want to dowel an edge to an end grain. Any ideas anyone?

Do you have any dowel centre pins (aka Dowel markers. Easily found on Google) to transfer marks?

I rarely use a jig nowadays... but I trust my ability to drill straight. And to fix things when I fail that trust.
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

For a start use a doweling bit not a jobber style, place the piece in a vice mark your positions and the sight along the edge keeping the drill perpendicular take it slow and careful, there are are doweling jigs about that will guide the drill bit

Great, thanks! Just checked out the link, and it made me realise I can make a simple jig which will do the trick. Thanks again.
