Gags,
I'd give it a go.
Email Irwin direct in the States.
I had an issue about 18 months ago with two of their quick grip clamps which wouldn't tighten up and kept slipping on the bar.
My initial contact with them was to ask whether there was a fix as I found that taking the thing apart and reversing the position of the two metal plates seemed to have a positive effect.
The next thing I know I get an email from them asking for my address and, sensing a good outcome I provided it, and a week later a courier arrived on my door step with two new clamps.
Excellent service

I had problems with a couple of new (although cheap) Irwin TS blades that were a mm out of true & Bunnies were as useless as... well... Bunnies.
Fired off an email to Irwin asking about tolerances and was pleasantly surprised to receive replacements.
