Veneer Softening
Old thread talks about glycerine/water and others say PVA /water mix to soften veneer. I'm looking for a mix to use on some mytle burl having not played with stuff before need advice.
Looked up Tage Frid he talks about cascamite, flour, glycerine and alcahol mix anyone tried this blend and if so how do you get hold of cascamite don't recall seeing it.Last edited by m2c1Iw; 1st May 2007 at 12:29 AM. Reason: More research

I use the Glycerine water mix... no problems on fiddle backed walnut, Flame mahogany (very warpped) and others too.

Steve,
Great, will give it a go. By the way timely for the epoxy deal as I intended using the Techniglue on the veneer to hopefully stop any cracking. Will that work OK on burl.
Cheers
