Veneer tape - where to buy?
I used the last of my veneer tape yesterday and I can't for the life of me find any on-line in Australia. Surely somebody here must sell perforated veneer tape?
.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

Veneer tape is used to stick sheets of veneer together - like this...
The gummed tape contracts as it dries, ensuring tight joints in the veneer. When the veneer has been laid, the tape is moistened and removed, or simply scraped off.
Brilliant!.

Warning
After reading this thread, I just set up an account with woodnworkshop.com.au and purchased 2 rolls of tape.
An hour later, I got a phone call from another forum member (Mark?) to say that he had just followed the same link, and was taken directly into my account area (secure area).
I have emailed the company, and advised them of the issue. I have also asked them to suspend my account, until the issue is resolved.
Thank you very much Mark, for going to the trouble of contacting me to and making me aware of the problem.
This is just a heads up to the rest of the members, that there is a security issue on the woodnworkshop.com.au site at the moment. I'm certainly not saying not to shop there, just letting you know that this is a security problem. I'll let you know what happens from here on, once they get back to me.Chris

Just received this email from Bruce
This is a huge concern to us also and will refer the matter immediately
to our host provider. We will not process and further activity on your
account without confirming the purchase with you.
I will contact you again as soon as I hear from our site provider.
Regards
Bruce Haggie
This was followed up by a phone call a few minutes later. He has had multilple people trying that link, and each time it has gone to the veneer section, as it should. He is following up with the hosting company, and will let me know their response. As he said, he pays a premium for security, and this just shouldn't have happened.
One thing I realised, after Mark rang me, was that I didn't log off before exiting the site, which I did later. Maybe this has a bearing on the issue, although it shouldn't have.
I have to say, that I am VERY happy with the response from Bruce, and his attitude. Certainly gives me a good feeling about dealing with them in the longer term. More as it comes in.Chris

Update on security arrangements for our website
Hi Chris
I thought I would post the information that we have received today from our website provider. Though the investigations are not yet complete there is some important information that may be of interest and use to many forum users.
The latest advise received from our host provider was that:
“Please note the issue has nothing to do with your SSL certificate or the security of the hosting account - it is a loophole in the software that runs your site.
You can let your customers know that the system in place is an extremely widely used system (millions of stores run osCommerce)- if a patch exists, I will find it and it will be applied- ask customers to be diligent about what they post in regards to url's, it'd be better if they just post to the home page I understand the importance of security and I'm not one to leave it until you forget about it - I will follow it up as I have a number of customers this issue affects. It's an obscure bug and I doubt any issue will occur again. The data of your customers is secure.
While it does not appear the issue was that your account was left open we have been advised to inform forum users that if a person posts a link while they have their shopping cart open the link can include “a unique code issued to the browser for saving their cart until they log in. This is an issue not unique to Oscommerce and could occur in any website.”
We were also advised by our host provider that:
“It should also be noted that in the same forum thread, a post byFBR Design to this site http://www.veneersupplies.com/product_info.php?cPath=86_37&products_id=65uses the same ecommerce system as your site.”
I understand that this information is not definitive and we are still to find out more information about this issue. In the mean time if anyone is anxious about providing personal / banking details please feel free to use paypal or bank transfer or credit card over the phone, All of these options allow you to complete your order without providing any banking details. Alternatively, if you would rather not register as a customer until the matter is fully resolved please feel free to email me your order and a contact phone number and I will call you back during business hours.
Regards
Bruce

Website security
Whenever I am asked for credit card details or anything personal, I always check that the site has a SSL padlock showing in the address bar or at the top of the page near there, or is a https web site.
Did you check your site at all chrisb691?regards,
Dengy

Hi Jill,
I had a secure connection when I did the transaction. However, my connection is irelevant in this case. The issue is that another forum member followed the posted link, and ended up in my newly created account on the site.
Bruce has assured me that my credit card details are not stored, so that is good. However, we seem to have uncovered a bug in the software that a large number of online sites are using for their web sales.
Again, I cannot fault Bruce for his resposiveness, and his attitude, to the issue. By the sound of it, his webhosting company is also determined to find the bug, and prevent a re-occurrence of the incident.
My apologies to WW for hijacking his thread, but I thought it important to advise other forum members of the issue. It's a pity WW didn't get this type of response re his recent online problem.Chris
