Veneered Doors
I'm trying to find somebody in Melbourne that can make internal doors with a veneered finish in something like walnut or similar. Alternatively does anyone now of somewhere where they can supply and lay veneer on doors.

hi Boris
could you tell a little more about the application? Veneer doors can be made by commercial fitout firms, but can be expensive compared to residential doors ......Steve

Veneered Doors
These will just be internal doors for a home. Nothing special over and above that.

Veneered Doors
Thanks, have tried them and most of the major door retailers with no luck. Have found somebody in NSW but the cost of transporting them just adds too much when you have a dozen to do.

the next choice would be Plyboard Distributors in Dandenong, they would be able to lay a 1.5mm veneer onto a standard door or possibly make the whole door.

the reason I asked for more information about your project was to ascertain what kind of architecture you need your doors for...... so what will do is just ask some further questions if that's ok ....
1. what general architectural style is the building? ie: Arts and Crafts, minimalist, etc.?
2. Are the doors standard size or taller/wider?
3. What hardware do you envision puuting on them? ie: Stainless "D" handles etc.?
4. What is youre budget per door or per project? This helps determine who could make them.
Cheers

All the internal doors in my house are a core covered with a 1/8" sapele veneered ply.
They are still the cheapest doors you can get.
If a particular veneer is wanted then a cheap door could be covered with a 3mm ply of your choice.
I need to recover a couple of my doors where my teenage son keeps punching his bedroom door in a temper.
Maybe I should wait til he gets out of his teens before replacing or repairing them.Dewy

Veneered Doors
Hi,
The house sytle is modern and minimalist.
Standard sizes, 2040 by 820.
Standard off the the shelf brushed nickel door sets.
Probably no more than $150 a door.
Thanks

Gee Boris, such doors are availible in bulk from most UK DIY sheds at £16 a door or less.
They have them piled up ready to take away.
Pine panelled doors are just £1 more.
I'm not sure what that translates to in Australian dollars.Dewy
