HI All,

Just came across this on the renovate forums and i thought this may be the better place to ask about the veneered timber sections. Anyone care to guess what type of timber this is, also where could you get these made? I could probably do something like this myself but given my lack of experience with veneering i'd be scared to take on a panel of this size, at least without some practice first.

Where would you even get veneer sheets that size? Make it yourself?

also, how big is the panel you're talking about?

I know of a place in Mittagong (or Bowral) that can sand 8 x 4 veneered panels

My second veneering job was 1600 mm long doors. The third was a 900 mm X 900 mm cofee table (details here ...Coffee Table WIP). No problems at all. Cut my own veneers on a band saw and use a vacuum press. Veneers are cut at 3 mm or a tad over, sanded to about 2.2 - 2.5 mm and then glued onto the substrate. Then final sanding takes the veneers back to a finished size of no more than 2 mm.

I was hesitant at first, but Ian from Sydney encouraged me to give it a shot. Turned out to be pretty simple.
