Thread: New Veritas Saws Coming Soon!

Two days ago I sent the following email to Veritas:

I want another tenon saw. Lie Neilsen make a 16 inch saw with about a 4 inch depth of cut and I suppose I could get that. But I would be sorry to part with the cash only to find that you will soon be selling one of your own design. If my experience with your other tools is any guide, such a saw would be good to use and very affordable.
Do you have any plans to make a saw like the LN anytime in the short or medium term?

We will shortly be offering both rip and crosscut tenon saws and a special price for both. The saws have a 16" long blade and 4" depth of cut. I have the rip and cross cut carcass saws and the 20 TPI dovetail saw. The 14 TPI dovetail saw in on the way. These saws are excellent to use and very affordable. Carbatec have the carcass saws listed at about $90 and Jim Davey's web site has them for $73. Anyway the LN saw is a beautiful saw and depending on the price of the Veritas saws when they are finally for sale I might still buy it. But the likelihood is that the Veritas tenon saws will be cheaper to buy and very well made. And my birthday is coming up soon. Also in case anybody in Brisbane has missed it Briz31 (a TV channel) has a wonderful series called Woodworking Master class on. The series shows at 6.30 pm Tuesday nights with 2 other repeats during the week. The project is a cabriole leg table. If anybody had suggested that I would be able to watch a show about dovetails and cabriole legs etc on prime time TV I would have suspected that they were using drugs. But it is true and the show is well worth watching. The episodes can also be seen online, if you live outside of the Bris31 broadcast area.
