Any volunteers to make nesting boxes for community project?
Hi all, Are there any woodworking enthusiasts in the Brisbane area/Moreton Shire who would love to make bird nesting boxes for a community project. It is a community initiative non for profit project to make and give away nest boxes to residents. These boxes are being made with donations of materials and skilled labour. We have the support of our local Councillor and local Mens Shed. Our goal is to make up to 120 boxes with at least one Mens Shed starting to make 50 boxes and another Mens Shed in discussions and an individual who has offered to make 5-10 boxes. The project is also being included in the Biodiversity module going into Moreton Shire schools this year. We will be giving two boxes to each of our four local schools. Our aim is to raise awareness regarding loss of habitat for our wildlife and to give families a fun way of providing homes for Lorikeets and Rosellas. We have had some plywood etc donated and continue to source materials. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please contact me if you are interested. I have attached the plan for the type of box that we are making.

Hi Wild4wildlife
One of our club members got a group together and made several nest boxes and placed them in trees around our club rooms at Timbertown and what a joy it is to see all of them being used, mainly Crimson Rosellas.
