Well, it sort of seemed to me also that you were saying BSW was 'best', but you've cleared that up now, Croccy, so all's forgiven...
I reckon the best thread is the one that does the job & I have the gears or a die to cut, which limits me to a smallish selection. One thread I do favour a bit is M6 - very convenient in some situations to have a pitch of exactly 1mm.

No one responded and I had never heard of a miner's inch; couldn't even imagine why a miner would want an inch that was different from anyone else's inch. So I googled:
miner's inch
Sure is different, and you cannot even get a miner's inch ruler!

This is the least of their stuff for instance 6/4 wood -what they mean is 1 1/2" it does go on.
