Default Wall plugs, Plaster, Timber, Masonry.

    The question is:
Is the colour code of the plugs standard across brand and type of plug?
Secondly where would I find a table giving me the information for drill size to plug used and screw size for a respective plug.

I've found a bit on the internet but nothing that seems to cover all types/sizes of plug.

    Thanks.

Thanks, That's one I found but was hoping for a complete table to cover all types and sizes.

Is this just for general knowledge or do you have a specific job in mind?
I've never seen a chart for this but I know which size goes with which colour in the Ramset range (I use wall plugs almost daily in my line of work)

More for reference for future use. I accumulate odds and sods of plugs and can never remember what you use with what drill size, screw etc.
I just think it would be handy to have a reference chart I can laminate and keep in my workshop.

I bought a handy little aid at Cunnings I think, I think it is P&N brand - an orange ruler type gauge, with metric/imperial rules, holes at various sizes to size stray drill bits, shows pilot hole sizes for screw sizes, plug sizes, and a metric-imperial conversion table..... very useful over the bench.

I keep my wall plugs in a divided box with a label stuck on the inside of the lid with the suggested drill sizes and screw gauges. Also keep wall plugs in the case of my Hilti hammer drill. By experience I have found is best to use a 6mm hole for the green plugs rather than 6.5mm. I have also been caught drill a 6mm hole in a media personality's wall and have it blow out to about 10mm. (Soft crumbling brick.) If the plug is too tight to go into the hole you can use a smaller plug or drill the hole out bigger. Likewise I generally use 8g in green plugs rather than 10-12.
