Thread: walnut burl veneer for old jag

I don't know if they sell raw veneer or just precut shapes but you might have a look here

I bought a 1953 mark V11 that had stood out doors with the sunroof open for many years. The woodwork looked absolutely shot but I took a piece to an antique restorer who said bring me all the pieces (and there many) and leave it with me for 3 months. Well about 15 months later he said come and collect and the job was outstanding. Apparently he had used it as a project for his "apprentices" to learn from- I do not know the process but 10 years later the veneer still looks superb.
I had contemplated re- veneering myself but its a daunting task for a beginner so why not try the above as a first pass.

try ebay ,search for veeneer sheets and there will be one company that claims to be 40 year old product , i have purchesed walnut, musk burl and birdseye maple fom them very satisfying

Sorry but I just finished watching Top Gear with Jezza doing his "Would you like a ride in my Jaaaagggghhhhh!?" routine and then I read this thread. I think I'm going to have to watch that episode again now........
