Water stains on drying walnut slabs
Hi all, total noob here.
Short story I cut 2 walnut trees out of the back yard and had them slabbed. I sealed the edges and chickred them in a barn but the roof leaked and they ended up getting soaked. I then moved them to a new building where they have been drying. They reached 12% moisture content so I moved them to my unfinished but air conditioned basement to finish drying. I'm now ready to start working them and they look pretty stained.
Question. Once I plane and sand them will they loose all the discoloring?
Have I f.d my self in this project?
Is there anything I should do before beginning to work them?
Thanks much in advance
Steve

Nice wood!! It’ll be fine unless mould or fungus problems set in . It would have had to be wet for a while for that to cause bad damage . It’ll be perfect I’d bet . What country you from ? We don’t see much Walnut here in AU . What are you planning on making ?
