    Default What is it

I was given a box of old tenon saws and moulding planes, so nice but in the bottom of the box was this piece of steel. So does anyone know what it is

Have a look here. I think it's called a timber dog.

    Default Glue dogs

Still got a dozen or so in the pile.
We used them for blocking up when the stuff wasn’t of large enough thickness for the pattern.
Quick and effective, you could eyeball the size and do quick glue up and it would be drying whilst you did your layout to contraction and added the prints and machining allowance.
I’ve never used them for edge glueing.
