What to make!!?
Hi guys, just posting on here to see what everyones choice would be in terms of making things.
Long story short, I am making a toy trunk for my son out of cedar but have hit a blank in terms of what to make next.
I have about 2 cubes of cedar including several slabs and the figure of the stuff is exceptional so I don't want to judt nake rubbish. Yes I know I have 2 cubes or around but everytime I come up with a great project I scrap it because I don't want to "waste" it.
So my question is, if you had this much to play with, what would you do with it?

Are you talking Australian Red Cedar ? I'm assuming you are . I have a similar amount and it either goes into special restoration work . Not just the average work I get sometimes . Or I make special reproductions from it . Your wood though so choose from what you need I suppose . And do it in a style that suits the wood .

Ship it to me.
I would use it to make some nice furniture and use the scraps in smaller projects such as scale models.Knappen - aka Ole, try at least one time.

You live just down the road from my brother who's at Clear Mountain, but enough of that, we're talking projects.
With a "Toy Trunk" being made, how about a whole stack of beautiful heavy duty wooden toy vehicles to fill it.
Have a look in the Toymaking section of the forum for ideas and if you need help with plans, please drop me an email and I try my best to assist.
Cheers, crowie

Make one of these! This sideboard is made using Red Cedar, not Australian, but not far off it. I finished it with Oil, but Shellac would have made it shine. Ya live and learn. But it's been excellent given the treatment it gets.
Regards,
Rob

I made a toy box/ storage chest for each of our three grandchildren out of northern rivers red cedar or camphor laurel. Just a simple box with a drawer under.
The natural progression then , each child having, or likely to have, a mess of books, was to cedar bookcases. Both items will hopefully become keepers for generations. Put a secret drawer somewhere, they love the idea.
Regards, Bill.
