whats the best way to fix a badly chipped wooden hand plane toe ?
I have a unmarked wooden hand plane 11" in length. The toe is chipped out lengthwise with the grain on both sides near the very end 1/4" x 1 1/4"
Should I use a table saw dado blade or router and make a half lap joint and close the mouth at the same time after flattening the sole?

It depends how wide the mouth is now and what you want the plane to do. Some picks would give a better understanding of its overall condition. It sounds like it is a jack plane so the mouth does not need to be really tight. First thing I would do is check the sole for flat with a steel rule or similar. Sharpen the blade and give it a try. That should give you an idea of what needs doing next.
